How to catch Zoe & Grizzbolt – Step-by-step
We will be targeting the first gym leader you encounter, Zoe & Grizzbolt. The further you are into the game the easier this bug will be to reproduce. We will however explain the easiest way we found for a new player to execute this.
To make this effective, ensure that you unlock the following two “Great Eagle Statues’ or waypoints.
- Grassy Behemoth Hills
- Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance
Next, we recommend using a bow. You could also just use your fists but the bow is a fairly simple and early weapon you unlock. Be careful when using any range weapon stronger than the early weapons as this may instead defeat the NPCs we will be using during this bug.
At the “Grassy Behemoth Hills” waypoint you should see a little church-like building with a “Skilled Islander” next to a campfire.
Make your way towards the “Skilled Islander” and shoot or hit him once. If at this point, he starts running into his campfire with a message saying “Criminal Activity Underway”, make sure he can actually run towards you and hit him again. You should get a wanted level now. If, by any chance, you defeat the “Skilled Islander”, just wait for an in-game day-night rotation, and he should return to his campfire!
In our image above, you might notice that the skilled islander has been defeated. This was done by the “PIDF Guards” and is perfectly fine as we still keep the wanted level.
Run back towards the “Grassy Behemoth Hills” waypoint and teleport to the “Rayne Syndicate Tower Entrance”. Next, run straight to the “Tower of the Rayne Syndicate” and initiate the battle. Upon spawning into the arena, you will notice that you still have a wanted level and “PIDF Guards” with you.
The next step is crucial: DO NOT ATTACK THE BOSS. Let the “PIDF Guard” attack the boss instead. You can do this by positioning yourself so that the boss stands between you and the guard. When the guard shoots the boss, the boss will either start walking to a corner of the arena or turn around and stay still. This is your cue to throw a “Pal Sphere” and see that you will immediately catch the boss.
The guard can now defeat you, or you can respawn by clicking on the option under the escape menu.
